Haunted Candy Apple Eyeball

Craft a spooky candy apple eyeball with isomalt and hard candy, complete with a detailed painted pupil and glossy finish.
Supply List
Apples, cleaned and dried well
Hard candy pieces
Clear and white isomalt
Wooden skewers
A half sphere mold
Edible colors
Small paintbrush
Sugar torch
Silicone mat
Silicone cups
Microwave
Instructions
- Clean and thoroughly dry apples.
- Insert a wooden stick.
- Heat up your favorite hard candy: 30 seconds in microwave, then 15-second intervals until it boils. Be careful — candy will be very hot.
- Dip apples into melted candy. Remove the excess and let harden.
- Heat up clear isomalt as you did the candy. Pour into mold. Use sugar torch to eliminate bubbles. Let harden.
- Paint the eyeball on the isomalt with edible colors. Pour on another layer of clear isomalt. Let harden. Paint in details on the eye — veins, etc. Pour on another layer of isomalt. Let harden.
- Heat more candy. Pour onto silicone mat. Manipulate the mat to create a stem for the eye. Attach stem to apple.
- Heat up and pour layer of white isomalt onto back of eye. Let harden. Remove from mold. Use sugar torch to remove any bubbles.
- Heat apple with sugar torch and attach the eye.

Melted candy and isomalt get extremely hot — handle with care.

Use a sugar torch between isomalt layers to eliminate air bubbles.
