Holiday Gnome Out of Fondant

Learn how to sculpt a festive holiday gnome using fondant over a Rice Krispie treat base. A fun Christmas project for bakers of all skill levels.

Fondant: green, your choice of color for skin, white, and black
Cereal treats
Cake tools
Rolling pin
Small precision knife
Toothpicks
Water
Silicone mat
Paint brushes
Edible powdered colors for dusting

Instructions

  • Shape the body, head and hat out of cereal treats.
    A hand shapes a Rice Krispie treat into the gnome body form.
  • Roll out green fondant, cut with a small precision knife, and cover the body.
    A hand trims green fondant covering the gnome body with a cake tool.
  • Roll some fondant (your choice of color) into a ball and add to the face as a nose.

  • Roll out and cut some more green fondant. Cover the hat.

  • Make arms out of fondant. Attach to body.
  • Make hands out of fondant. Attach to arms.
